The National Anthem protests have ruffled a lot of feathers, as it should. America thrives on the hard work – the blood, sweat, and tears – of patriotic citizens. These people take pride in their work because they take pride in their home, America. They relish the freedoms and ideals that the country was founded on and take the care and wellbeing of the country personally because a family member or friend fought or died to preserve all of it.
Is it too much to ask for simple pleasures in life? Is it too much to ask from millionaire football players to leave the politics in the locker room and to put their hearts into the game? Working class America has clung to the joys of football as a reward for their hard work. But, it is 2017. Snowflake victim culture is bleeding into everything and everyone wants the spotlight.
Fortunately, sound minds have risen from the chaos. Former NFL star and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker is not a fan of the NFL protests and believes that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is to blame for allowing them to continue.
In an interview with the New York Post published Sunday, Walker addressed the protests.
What did he say?
When asked his thoughts on the national anthem demonstrations, Walker said, “I absolutely think the protests are so upsetting, and I blame the commissioner.”
“I know people are going to be angry when I say it, but he should have stopped the protests at the very beginning,” Walker continued.
Walker, who has partnered with Rocky Ridge Trucksto promote the True American Hero Truck Giveaway, also has very strong feelings about the American flag.
The winner of the True American Hero Truck Giveaway — chosen from nominations of those in the uniformed and emergency services — will be awarded a customized, hand-painted, and American-made 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, worth $80,000.
“Guys, let me tell you this,” he told the Post. “Our flag is very special, and black lives matter, but what we should do is go to Washington after the season and protest there instead. We have young men and women fighting for the flag. And we have to respect the White House.”
