Members of the group ANTIFA would have you believe that their hateful rhetoric and violent actions are somehow intended to represent their stand against slavery (a horrific practice that ended in America well over 100 years ago). Apparently these brainiacs have little (if any) knowledge of the actual history surrounding this process that they supposedly despise so much, and they are hell-bent on insuring that the history regarding slavery is erased from our minds and educational institutions. Not that educational systems have always done a credible job in educating our youth as to the institution of slavery in America and those who practiced it.
But is eliminating the record of slavery a good thing? Perhaps rather than eliminating the history of slavery we would do well to properly teach it’s causes and champions. Dinesh De’sousa in two of his excellent books “Hillary’s America” and his latest “The Big Lie” correctly points out that “In 1860, on the eve of the Civil War, no Republicans owned slaves–all the slaves in America were owned by Democrats” This salient fact has been attacked by the left, but not disproven. If you (like many) were unaware of this, Thank your liberal school or history teacher.
The left has long felt that their noise and posturing could somehow overcome their dark history. In fact just a cursory review of the history regarding the Civil War, the Reconstruction, the KKK, Jim Crow Laws, and the 13th/14th/15th Ammendments along with the Civil Rights Act will demonstrate how much the Democratic Party opposed slavery – which is to say not at all.
Somehow leftists want to convince us that destroying statues of those who fought for the movement created by the Democratic Party in the first place will heal our racist divide, something that the left oddly enough has had zero interest in doing over the last eight plus years.
No one on ANTIFI or the Democratic National Convention seems willing to address the fact that this blight upon mankind which was one of the main causes for the Civil War “slavery” still exists today. Although estimates vary the total sum of people who are under slavery in 2017 around the world numbers in the tens of millions and is reportedly at it’s highest point in recorded history.
According to the website Anti-slavery.org “Slavery continues today in every country in the world. Women forced into prostitution. People forced to work in agriculture, domestic work and factories. Children in sweatshops producing goods sold globally. Entire families forced to work for nothing to pay off generational debts. Girls married off to older men”
This blight on humanity is real and there are well intentioned individuals who fight these atrocities on a daily basis. The website themuse.com In their article titled “The Fight for Freedom: 7 Organizations Combatting Human Trafficking” speaks about those who fight against slavery “These groups confront traffickers, criminal gangs, and broken systems in order to make a difference. They use their resources to take a stand and serve as a voice for those who are exploited and held against their will.”
The United States Department of State has on their website (the somewhat poorly named Dipnote.com) an article entitled https://blogs.state.gov/stories/2017/01/20/en/fifteen-ways-you-can-help-combat-human-trafficking which lists 15 things that average people can do to fight human trafficking. Currently the fight against modern day slavery is being conducted by a small group of individuals both in America and around the world. These individuals face death on a regular basis because they dare to confront the nefarious forces in this day and age that receive billions of dollars in profits annually from this evil practice. These forces include hostile and uncaring governments, organized crime, gangs and corrupt businesses who have no compulsion about where their profits come from.
Yet while some are willing to risk everything up to and including death to break the chains of those subject to this evil members of the left, especially ANTIFA apparently feel more useful masking up and railing against statues.
