There’s no question the leadership of North Korea are certifiably insane. You need just listen to their outlandish threats against America to know that.
But it’s precisely their unhinged nature that makes the North Koreans so dangerous.
Rational bad guys with a nuke is one thing. Mutually assured destruction is enough to keep them from ever crossing the red line.
But Kim Jong-un and his regime don’t appear to be all that rational.
Last week, they test fired ballistic missiles that can reach mainland America. The Trump Administration responded with condemnation. To which Kim replied, via state-run media:
“If the U.S. is stupid enough to shove its stinky face on this land again and keep brandishing its nuclear club despite our repeated warnings, the DPRK will teach the U.S. some manners with the strategic nuclear force that it had so far shown to the world.
“Any form of military threat or blackmail by the U.S. can never scare the DPRK and, on the contrary, it will only redouble the resolve of the Korean army and people to annihilate the enemy.”
Guess we better mind our “stinky face,” or risk finding ourselves at the “crossroads of life and death,” as the North Korean statement put it.
