Country Music Fest Says They Won’t Kick Toby Keith Just Because He’s ‘Political’

If people could use politics and sport in the same sentence, why wouldn’t they associate politics and music? It’s terrible how people don’t recognize real values, and decide to boycott someone just because they don’t like the fact that the person is getting the best of their raw talent.

A country music festival held in Naperville, Ill. may face difficulties after several residents complained about one of their lineup performers. Claiming that he was “too political,” residents tried to get Toby Keith out of the program. Wonder why? What’s the only connection between Keith and politics? Of course, it’s his performance at the inauguration celebration of President Donald Trump. Unbelievable.

Keith never expressed his political feelings during the presidential elections, but he was still required to “defend” his performance on Inauguration Day. But, the singer decided not to “apologize for performing for our country or military.”

Ribfest is scheduled for June 30, and some of the residents decided to boycott Keith. Others dared to say that his lyrics is “inappropriate.”

“In the current political climate, it seemed overtly polarizing and political,” Naperville resident Amy Kakkuri said to Chicago Tribune reporters.

Although Naperville residents did everything they could to stop Keith from performing at Ribfest, organizers won’t exclude Keith from the program.

“Ribfest talent is negotiated and selected months in advance of the event,” read the post on their Facebook page. “At no time does the Exchange Club of Naperville make any political statement or endorsement. At no time are artists booked based on their political beliefs or actions.”

“This election, I don’t think it makes a difference. I can’t believe there’s 300 million Americans in this country, and we’ve got these two as our final two. It’s absolutely crazy,” revealed Keith during his interview for Entertainment Weekly in August.

Keith isn’t the only singer who went through such a bad experience after accepting the invitation to perform at the big inauguration. Jackie Evancho received tons of critics at her address. It’s an honor to perform for the President, and every American out there.

What do you think about the attempt to protest Keith’s performance? Do you think anti-Trump protesters will appear at Ribfest?
