Looks like President Obama’s legacy is about to suffer another hit.
And no, it’s not the economy – it’s not his foreign policy, or his many, many concessions to the Muslim world.
This time, it deals with the U.S. military and the veterans who’ve served so honorably. As if they haven’t suffered enough under Obama.
As Michael Lee writes for AllenBWest.com: “The last eight years have not been kind to our veterans. Despite putting their lives on the line for their country, the care they’ve received after leaving the service has been subpar at best.”
Specifically, the Veterans Administration has been involved in scandal after scandal. And just this week, there’s been another.
As AllenBWest.com posted, as written by the Tulsa World:
“Four staff members at the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs Talihina facility have resigned after a resident who later died was found with maggots in a wound, the agency said.”
Holy cow. Is this even America?
Apparently, under Obama, yes.
“Executive director Myles Deering said the maggots were discovered while the patient was alive but were not the cause of his death,” the news blog continued. “He said the man came into the center with an infection.”
Umm, how about cleaning that infection?
A physician’s assistant and three nurses resigned, rather than face an uncomfortable firing.
But the veteran? Owen Reese Petersen, 73, unfortunately spent his last days in the subpar care of the same VA Obama vowed would improve, but did not.
Thankfully, President-elect Donald Trump has made the VA one of his policy priorities, and has plans to go foward with a 10-point plan of improvement as soon as he takes office. Veterans should be pleased that Trump is in the White House because finally, after eight years of essentially being ignored, our brave soldiers will get their just due.
