Voters Say That Media Is Biased Against Donald Trump

Most voters agree that the media is biased against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, according to a Morning Consult poll published Friday.

Thirty-eight percent of registered voters said they felt the media was biased against Trump in an effort to get Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton elected. An additional 12 percent agreed that the media was biased, but in the other direction, saying the media was biased in an attempt to get Trump elected.

The rest of the voters were split, with 27 percent reporting that they felt the media was fair and unbiased, while 23 percent didn’t have an opinion on the matter.

The mainstream media was primarily blamed for helping the Trump campaign, allowing the campaign to get away with not spending a lot of money on campaign ads during the Republican primary.

Only 9 percent of Trump supporters believe the mainstream media is still helping the candidate, and a full 66 percent of Trump supporters believe the media is pro-Clinton.

Comparatively, 40 percent of Clinton supporters believe the media is unbiased, while 16 percent reported that the media was actively trying to get Trump elected. A relatively small 19 percent responded they felt the media was trying to get Clinton elected. A large majority of 88 percent of voters reported they followed the race with some degree of consistency.

The online poll surveyed 2,001 likely voters on August 16th and the 17th, and carried a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percent.
