Vice President Joe Biden shrugged off concerns Tuesday that Bernie Sanders’ supporters might not break for Hillary Clinton after the Democratic National Convention, predicting that none of them would end up voting for Donald Trump.
“They’re going to be fine. Look, they worked hard. We got to show a little class and let them be frustrated for a while. It’s OK,” Biden told reporters in Philadelphia, as pro-Sanders protesters held demonstrations throughout the city after a noisy first night inside Wells Fargo Center.
Those people, Biden continued, are “all going to end up voting for Hillary.”
“Come on, man. Do you think any of these guys are going to walk in and vote for Trump?” Biden asked. “Raise your hand if you think any of the people who are protesting or hollering are going to vote for Trump.”
As for the notion that some Sanders supporters might do just that, Biden shot back, “Well, then, they didn’t support what Bernie stands for.”
Biden, along with President Barack Obama, will address the convention on Wednesday night.
