At one time it took opening a newspaper to find out what was going on in the world. This soon progressed to listening to the local radio broadcast, then watching the evening news on the television. Now it is as simple as opening your favorite social media app, and because our lives move so quickly we are very conscious of what we invest our time to look at on these social media apps. We scroll through the latest posts on our walls, and headlines just zoom passed our eyes. Maybe you stop to read one or two but it has to be really interesting to even finish reading the entire headline.
We have now begun to take everything we see or read and believe it as true never realizing that along the way it is quite possible that we are all being manipulated and/or reconditioned to be enraged by, entertained by or begin to sympathize with the subjects of the headlines we read. Some of us never even read the article associated with the headline, we simply believe that there must be some truth to this or it wouldn’t be here in front of me. We have also found self-value in social media. Posting a selfie brings instant self-esteem or instant depression depending on the amount of likes or comments one gets on their post. We are seeking universal acceptance from people we barely know. It has become so terrible that you don’t dare disagree with anyone because there is retribution for it.
There used to be a saying, “Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.” I am unsure who made this up but I am sure that none of us have grasped the idea at all. Nowadays it’s probably more like, believe 10 or 20 percent of what you see and none of what you hear. There is another saying, “There are three sides to every story, your side, my side, and the truth.” This is another one we’ve heard but never stay interested long enough to get to the bottom of. We scream in outrage the minute we feel as if someone is judging us, yet we are the first one to point the finger in judgment when we see something that we do not agree with. We have all become so emotionally fragile that we lash out at anyone for daring to have an opposing opinion. In most cases, the core of anyone’s opinion is unlikely their own, influence surrounds us with everything we do. A television personality that you enjoy may say something you kind of agree with and if they repeat it enough times we will naturally own at least part of that opinion as we formulate our own. The worst part is we don’t even truly know that television personality, and here we are owning what they said to us and repeating it as our own thought. For all we know that person was told to say these things on the air even though they may not even agree with it, however that nice fat paycheck they receive at the end of the week makes it easy to do what they are told.
Everyday approximately 50,000 airplanes take off and touch down successfully, transporting us everywhere in the world we could ever want to go. Have you ever sat on your couch, turned on the news and watched an anchorman or woman tell you this? You did hear about all of the plane crashes didn’t you? While we are on the subject of the news, have you ever analyzed how many minutes of the hour long broadcast are spent giving you good news? Not many right? Didn’t think so. In 2015 US police killed approximately 1200 people (as of 12/26/2015). Latino, Asian, and Indigenous people, make up a little over 200 of that number, while well over 300 of them were African American, and last but not least 500 of them were white. Do we know the names of any of the people killed that weren’t African American? Did the news even mention them? Is it at all possible that the media is being directed by the people who run this country to cover certain stories and ignore others? Is it at all possible that creating a race war between black and white people would be just enough distraction to keep us occupied while they continue to steal our freedom from us one amended law at a time? Is it at all possible that a race war at this critical election year would make it easier to defeat a surprise candidate that neither political party wants? A surprise candidate that no one thought could ever make it this far, a surprise candidate that has exposed the complete corruption that makes up our country’s electoral process, a surprise candidate that has broken every political rule from day one and all along mocking the practices of every career politician in the process and still managed to win the nomination despite all of the back door attempts to remove him from the running!
It is time to wake up, and see the world for what it is! We must realize we are being only given the part of the story that benefits others for us to see and believe! It is up to us to fully educate ourselves and find the truth! When the headline reads, Trump is a racist! He wants to stop Mexicans from coming into the country! It is up to us to find the truth, “We want people to come into our country, legally, legally.” When the headline reads, Trump hates all Muslims! He wants to ban them from entering the country! It is up to us to find the truth, “I am calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.” When the headline reads, Trump hates Mexicans! He wants to build a wall to keep them all out of our country! It is up to us to find the truth, “We’re going to do a wall; we’re going to have a big, fat beautiful door on the wall; we’re going to have people come in, but they’re going to come in legally.”
All of the events that have transpired in the past few weeks are absolutely unacceptable! Black men being shot by white cops, white cops being shot by black men in retaliation, the complete fueling of the war by our current president, and the down play of the entire situation by the democratic party in an attempt to make this war about an example of the reasons that our second amendment rights should be revoked. It is time to stop the madness, take a step back from the situation and realize this is all wrong! God gave Moses the 10 commandments for us to live by, ten laws that seem relatively simple when seen as a whole, but could we follow them? No! Not a single one of us could!
Then our God, being the loving God he is, sees this is a problem so he sends us Jesus Christ. His only begotten son to die for our sins, because for some reason we can’t get it together enough to just handle regular life!
All of the time Jesus spends with us he knows he is going to die a disgusting and tremendously, painful death so that we all don’t spend eternity in damnation! All of us took turns whipping, beating stabbing, kicking, and spitting on him as he dragged the wooden cross to the place of his death. We all cheered as the hammer slammed the nails into his wrists and feet! We all danced when the screams of pain came down as the cross was lifted into place! Imagine if every time we sin he hears the crowd yelling, “Crucify! Crucify!” Imagine if he felt the pain of another whip across his back. Imagine if he felt another nail in his wrists and feet! To top all of this off, before Jesus goes to his death he decides to make life even easier for us! He basically says okay guys, my dad and I never realized how hard it would be to follow 10 simple laws so I came here to make you a new deal, a much simpler deal. These ten laws, I’m here to wipe them out! All you got to do from now on is follow two simple laws, yes only two, and get this, if you can manage to follow these two simple laws, you would actually be following the 10 original laws without even trying. Here is the new law…
I guess we can’t get these right either, I have never been so disgusted. It is time for change! We need God in America again! Don’t take my word for it go out there and find the truth! Don’t you dare let me or anyone else on this planet tell you what the truth is go out there and find it!
He hasn’t forsaken us, we’ve forsaken him. Seek him while he may be found! If there is something missing in your life, if there is some sort of void you can’t seem to fill, then fill it with Jesus and watch how everything falls into place! He loves you despite all you’ve done or all you will do! Give him your heart before it is too late.
