When You Wish Upon a Star; Donald Trump and ‘Antisemitism’

Share this:

There was a time not long ago when little old ladies would scour through newspaper articles (especially editorial and sports pieces) in an attempt to catch the author of said pieces trying to get away with writing dirty words in their columns by spelling them out in the first letter of each paragraph. They rarely caught their quarry but that never stopped them from trying. If you wonder what ever happened to these little old ladies you might want to check out left leaning periodicals like the Washington Post.

star_drawing_by_juliadesign-d5fp8ti[1]It seems that the Post may have made a major investment in hiring these little old ladies and employing them in searching out conspiracy theories and dirty words in any story about Donald Trump.

Apparently the relentless searching of these dedicated women uncovered a real bomb shell, Trump had used a Star in one of his campaign ads that may or may not have been a Star of David. To make matters worse (if possible) he may or may not have intended to apparently insult and threaten all people of Jewish descent (well all except presumably his Jewish daughter and two grandchildren). To make matters even worse the reprobate (Trump) had compounded his sin by doing this hateful act or not doing it and then hiding it in a campaign ad aimed at that bastion of Judaism and hero of Jewish people everywhere Hillary Clinton.

Now to be fair to the Post (something that the Post is not famous for) they (the Post) are far from the only publication or blog that appear to be fascinated by this non-story.  It is well worth noting however that the vast majority of media outlets still reporting on this are of the far left persuasion.  The Post however may well be the most persistent of all of these.

However, if you take the time to read the many articles the left has dedicated to the issue of this star (far more of course than the Bill Clinton and AG story,  or the Hillary and Benghazi story, or the stories about Hillary’s dastardly treatment of the many, many, many victims of her husband’s umm err – misplaced affection, or God forbid the stories about the Hillary email disasters, or basically any story that might shine anything even suggestive of a negative light on Hillary) You will find that these stories place Trump in a no win situation. First of all they demand that he remove the star, which he does.  That settles it, right? Wrong!! Any effort by Donald Trump’s campaign to correct the ad and eliminate the controversy are met by questions that hearken back to the best of yellow journalism – If there was nothing wrong with the star then why did you remove it Mr. Trump?, If the story wasn’t aimed at Jews then why did you apologize Mr. Trump? Do you still beat your wife Mr. Trump? Yes  scintillating journalism that stuff.

Trump has always maintained a close relationship with Israel http://forward.com/news/breaking-news/318770/trumps-strong-jewish-ties/ and there is little reason to doubt that this ‘star’ controversy will have little if any real impact on that.  Given the rest of the news dominating the current news cycle (such as the FBI’s bombshell decision not to indite Hillary) it is easy to understand how this non-story about the shape of star’s in Trump’s campaign material is just a desperate attempt by her (Hillary’s) campaign to deflect the negative attention to Trump. What remains to be seen is if this fecal matter that has been thrown by the Clinton campaign staff at the wall of public opinion will stick. It is easy to say that most people are far to smart to be fooled by this type of journalism, but remember 51% of our population believe that Obama is doing a good job. That’s right 51%.

Are people foolish enough to place the same level of significance on something that might be an inappropriate action on the part of Trump (and then again might not be) as they place upon what most certainly was admitted (criminal??) negligence on the part of Clinton? That’s the real question.  We must all hope that America comes up with the right answer.
