Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has built a movement of Democrats disgusted with Hillary Clinton by attacking American’s wealthiest job creators, but he went too far when he attacked a liberal icon on his home turf.
At a campaign swing in Anaheim, California, last week, Sanders slammed the Walt Disney Co. – one of the major economic players in that part of the country – as a corporate monster. Not far away from the iconic Disneyland theme park, the self-avowed socialist declared that Disney “pays its workers [at the park] so low that many are forced to live in motels because they can’t afford a decent place to live,” according to Fortune.
Disney CEO Bob Iger was none too pleased. Leave aside the unpleasant picture of the spittle flying from Sanders’ face as he spit out “motels” and “decent place to live” — Iger pointed out in a private Facebook post that the Vermont senator is simply ignorant.
“To Bernie Sanders,” he wrote, according to The Wrap:
“We created 11,000 new jobs at Disneyland in the past decade, and our company has created 18,000 in the US in the last five years. How many jobs have you created? What have you contributed to the US economy?”
Now, being the CEO of one of America’s largest companies doesn’t make Iger a capitalist hero. He’s a confirmed Hillary Clinton supporter and an established part of Hillary’s Hollywood crowd that has raised buckets and buckets for the likely Democrat nominee.
But it is bracing to hear Sanders get slapped down once in a while from the left. Even Hillary Clinton supporters know the government doesn’t exist to give Americans jobs.
And Americans sure don’t exist to provide labor for their government masters.
Socialists like Sanders have been getting that wrong since there have been socialists.
