Colin Kaepernick FIRED From 49ers After Disrespecting Police and National Anthem

Over the weekend, we reported that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick turned on America on Friday when he refused to stand as the national anthem played before a game. Within 24 hours, fans were burning his jersey to let him know that what he did was wrong.

Now, however, this blatant show of disrespect has come back to bite him in a big way.

According to Daily Caller, Fox Sports analyst Jay Glazer just reported that the 49ers are likely to cut Kaepernick from their team.

“Regardless of politics or not, he has a very, very big uphill battle to make this team. I’d be shocked if he’s on the 49ers by the time this season ends,” Glazer said Monday on Fox Sports, according to Pro Football Talk. “It has nothing to do with political views whatsoever. He lost a ton of weight this offseason, had three surgeries, couldn’t work out, lost that double threat, that size-speed ratio. No political views, he just hasn’t been effective. He’s regressing as a player. I’d be shocked if he’s on this roster by the end of this year. He may not be on it in the next two weeks.”

While the fact that he is about to potentially be cut from the team may not have to do with his protest, Kaepernick certainly isn’t helping his case by stirring up this much trouble.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” the quarterback said of his protest. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Originally, his team appeared to stand by Kaepernick.

“The national anthem is and always will be a special part of the pre-game ceremony,” the 49ers said in a statement. “It is an opportunity to honor our country and reflect on the great liberties we are afforded as its citizens. In respecting such American principles as freedom of religion and freedom of expression, we recognize the right of an individual to choose and participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem.”
